Hole 1 – Sea
Par 4 | Stroke Index 10
Comfortable opening hole and a good birdie chance. Although the sea is in play on the right it takes a fairly wild drive to find it. The main hazards are the two bunkers on the left edge of the fairway almost always in play. Having found the fairway you are left with a mid or short iron to a flat and open green.
The first at Nairn is a comfortable opening hole. Although the sea runs down the right, the fairway is generously wide and seldom comes into play. Nairn is one of the few courses that has a sea deemed to be a lateral water hazard, running along its first seven holes. From the tee the main hazards are two bunkers which are on the left edge of the fairway which are almost always in play. Having found the fairway you are left with an inviting approach to a flat and open green. The opening hole is the first of 7 on the front 9 that are played into the prevailing westerly wind.
